The General conducted Tequila Tasting Maneuvers on Saturday, May 3rd to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Contrary to popular belief the day isn’t celebrating Mexican Independence Day, rather a victory over the French in the Battle of Pueblo on May 5th, 1862. Don’t worry though, the show will be produced without the help of any illegal Mexican aliens!
Tequilas
Blanco (white) or Plata (silver): white spirit, unaged or aged less than two months in stainless steel or neutral oak barrels
Joven (young) or Oro (gold): unaged Blanco that is colored and flavored with caramel
Reposado (rested): aged a minimum of two months, but less than a year in oak barrels
Añejo (aged): aged a minimum of one year, but less than three years in small oak barrels
Extra Añejo (extra aged): aged a minimum of three years in oak barrels
Milagro
Milagro Blanco – Very nice, not overly bitter
Milagro Reposado – Has more oaky-ness than the Blanco from the oak barrels. More warmth and bite.
Milagro Anejo – More boldness but not as much bite as the Reposado. Very smooth.
Milagro Special Reserve Reposado – Has a nice sweetness aroma. Lots of flavor with no bite.
Tanteo
Tanteo Jalepeno – A lot of spice with heat. Not for the amateur drinker.
Tanteo Tropical – Made with mango, guava and papaya. This is great chilled and very nice.
Tanteo Cocoa – Cocoa flavored tequila that is a great compliment to a cocktail
1800
1800 Silver – Has more bite than the other blancos, more warmth on the palette
1800 Reposado – Is like a single-malt scotch, is a great sipping tequila
Maestro Dobel
Maestro Dobel Diamond – Run through diamond filters. Very smooth
